First of all, how is it March already?😙 Anyways... I finally finished a rather surprising and bold book, Quit Like A Woman: The Radical Choice to Not Drink in a Culture Obsessed with Alcohol by Holly Whitaker ✨☕️
I hope everyone’s ending their week on a good note! 🛁 I just finished a new YA book, Whole by E.A. Rohler✨ I don’t read a lot of YA or New Adult books, but I received this one in a giveaway from the author and thought I’d give it a shot ✨
Hi everyone! I caught up on an ARC book and review this week. This is a good thing too, because its release date is approaching ✨ I finished Marin Montgomery’s latest thriller, The Imposter ✨ This title will be available on March 9th ✨
This week I read the emotionally turbulent novel Swimming in the Dark by Tomasz Jedrowski ✨🏊🏻‍♂️ This speculative story, which felt like a love letter, recounted events to the main character’s former lover, and is definitely one to remember. It takes place during the fall of Communist Poland in the early 1980s, and learning about the history itself was fascinating. The drama centers on Ludwik and Janusz, two young men who fall in love one summer and bond over the not-approved book, James Baldwin’s Giovanni’s Room. Through growing apart from Janusz and becoming an adult in a more oppressive society, Ludwik figures out what he wants out of life and learns the importance of choosing. This LGBT centered novel touches on love, identity, loss and what freedom means ✨
Who enjoys audiobooks? Personally, I love physical books more, but that’s just me. My goal this year is to try to become more into audiobooks due to my longer commute to work by car. And the first audiobook I listened to (the first in a long time), is a horror work of fiction, Twelve Nights at Rotter House by J.W. Ocker ✨
I’m finally closer to ending my reading slump by finishing Flawless: Inside the Largest Diamond Heist in History by Scott Andrew Selby and Greg Campbell 💎 This book fell into my life unexpectedly when a coworker recommended and let me borrow this one. Flawless is a nonfiction read written by the authors of Blood Diamonds (yes, like the Leonardo DiCaprio movie) about an intriguing true crime story that was not widely talked about when it happened ✨
